What are we doing today? What are we doing tomorrow?

These two questions were asked at my home very often. Very, very often. But not anymore. Not since I came up with my idea for Plagnets. My name is Johan, and I live in Hjärup, which is located just outside of Lund, together with my wife and our twin sons Tage and Arvid, who were born in 2019. It was a constant minor struggle to try to structure our days. No matter how often we reminded our boys about what we were going to do during the day, the question 'what are we going to do today?' would soon follow. I think those of you who are also parents of young children know how it feels.

But then, during the fall of 2023, I attended my life’s first parent-teacher meeting at the preschool where the boys go. There, the very sensible educators showed how they, every morning gathering, went through which day it was but also a schedule based on pictorial support with all the children. I thought it was incredibly good and wanted to introduce something similar at our home, hoping it would help us all keep track of what and when things were supposed to be done.

To make it a bit more user-friendly and visually appealing, I skipped the option of printing out pictorial supports from the internet. Moreover, I had no way to laminate what I would print, and I did not want putty everywhere. Instead, I drew some motifs and icons and made magnets out of them. Classic fridge magnets.

Then one day after preschool, I introduced them to the boys. We first put them on the fridge and then on a whiteboard. To say it was a success is an understatement. They loved it! We quickly put together a schedule not just for the day but also for the coming days. When there was a party, when we would go swimming, when we would eat something special but also what routines we should have after preschool. Wash hands, play a bit, eat dinner, brush teeth, and go to bed. This changed everything at our home!

After a small post on Instagram, many friends started contacting me.

  • Where did you buy the magnets?
  • We need them too!

Obviously, it wasn’t just us at home who appreciated this. Together with my friends Paul and Daniel, we decided to open this webshop so that others also have the opportunity to try this. For this changed everything at our home.

Why is it called Plagnets? Partly because the magnets are round, like planets. Then you plan with them. Plan with magnets - Plagnets.

There will be more and more icons and complete packages coming. Do you have any requests? Let us know!

I hope you will have as great an experience as we did when we introduced this.

Thank you for your time!

Kind regards,
Johan
